Taare Zameen Par

What can I say? Taare Zameen Par.
JUST WATCH IT. Fantastic movie. Really touched by Darsheel Safary's character (Ishaan).
I hope this is India's entry in the Oscar's next year. Many scenes were really well done. And Ishaan does some random stuff that I can relate to. Like when he is made to stand outside the classroom (which I've had to do as well :), he does a robot dance toward a window and then moonwalks back to his position. Awesome! Though I was not/am not dyslexic (I think), I was a hyperactive daydreamer. I could sit for hours on end, pretending to study while whole wild stories were running around in my head (mostly sci-fi involving flying robots and such). My parents never understood that part of me and I never learnt to express that part of myself to others. Great acting all around. The kid is mindblowing but overall everybody was great. Loved how the dad had trouble expressing himself at first and how the elder brother was actually sympathetic to his kid brother.

There are negatives of course: a little too long, some uneven editing that make scenes cut abruptly, too many songs. The title song though is really good.

Consulting Speak

A friend recently caught me spouting consulting speak and called me out on it. Scary thing is, I didn't feel like I was bullshitting. Anywhere, here are a few that I've picked up over the past year in my sojourn in the consulting world.

1. It is what it is.
My take: Therefore, it is not what it is not.

2. We don't want to boil the ocean.
My take: Because you CAN'T!

More to come.
